Poetry Literary Terms
External Form: The arrangement of the poem, "externally", such as how many lines and stanzas. It doesn't interfere with the make up of the poem.
Internal Structure: The organization of the poem, "internally", such as word choice, and position.
Language: The word choice, the diction, of a poem that helps describe the poem.
Situation/Setting: The who, what, when, where, and why of a poem. Setting is mostly the time and place of the poem.
Speaker: It is the narrator, sometimes not the poet, of the poem.
Tone: The attitude of the speaker towards the subject.
